Carolina Coonhound Rescue

Foster

FOSTER HOMES ARE URGENTLY NEEDED TO HELP US SAVE MORE DOGS!

Carolina Coonhound Rescue does not have a shelter facility.  We rely heavily on the community to help us give hounds a place to stay until they can be adopted into loving forever homes.

If you are interested in fostering please complete and submit the Foster Application on this page.

The most important thing to remember is that fosters save lives!  since we do not have a shelter facility we can only save dogs that have a place to go.  We are always looking for new families to help these dogs get a second chance!  Take the first step to becoming a Hound Hero TODAY!

Things to consider before fostering:

Carolina Coonhound Rescue covers all costs of fostering including food if needed.

We ask that foster homes commit to at least 6 months to place dogs and that they are available to attend our adoption events.  As a foster it will not be required to attend events but we ask that you can attend at least one a month or that you make arrangements to have your foster dog at an event to give him/her a chance at a forever home!  Most of our adoptions happen when someone just happens upon a dog that they fall in love with.  While we DO NOT do on site adoptions, it does help get the ball rolling.  We have many events throughout the month and they usually last for around 3-4 hours.

Carolina Coonhound Rescue has a foster manual that must be followed and you must sign a form saying that you agree to follow its terms and conditions.  This manual tells you what to do in an emergency and protects everyone involved including the foster home.

We do accept out of state applications from those who would be interested in fostering a dog waiting for transport to Charleston SC.  Sometimes we cannot make transport arrangements in time and we need people who can help get the dogs safe until we can get to them!  This type of fostering would generally be a 2 week commitment.

Please don’t let the fact that you may become attached to the dog keep you from fostering!  Getting attached is a normal emotion and if you care at all it IS going to happen!  We all get attached but the best feeling in the world is knowing that without you that dog wouldn’t have had a second chance at life.  Without you that dog would be dead.  That is why we foster!  It's never easy for any of us to let go of a foster dog but there are always dogs that will need our help once he/she has found a forever family.
"IT'S BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST THAN TO NEVER HAVE LOVED AT ALL!" -Alfred Lord Tennyson
